Intake and Admissions

Intake

The school welcomes new entrants of all ages, and encourages children already in education to come into school for a day before they start.  Every effort is made to ensure a smooth transition into the school.

At the beginning of the term before Reception children are due to start school, a meeting for parents is held by the Reception Class teacher and Mr Reeve.  Later in the same term the children have the opportunity to visit the school, to see their classroom and meet their teacher.  All Reception children start school in September, the school year running from September to August, and details of this are given at the parents’ meeting.  We also accept children mid-year who are either moving into the area or are changing schools.

The school enjoys a close relationship with its feeder pre-schools.  Most children transfer from Tick-Tock pre-school, however children are welcomed from all pre-schools and nurseries in the area.

To help your child settle into school quickly, it is helpful if they can manage their coats and shoes and are  confident using the toilet.

Admissions

Admission authorities must allow parents of children who are offered a place at the school before they are of compulsory school age to defer their child's entry until later in the school year.  Where entry is deferred, admission authorities must hold the place for that child and not offer it to another child.  The parent would not however be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child's fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted.

Admissions applications are made via North Yorkshire County Council’s on-line application system.  Please follow the link for admissions below for more information on the schools admission arrangements and to register your child.

When the Education office inform you that your child has a place with us we will ask you to fill in our Admission Form. Please
